UNIST has announce that its business schools have earned AACSB International accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), one of the world’s leading business school accreditation organizations.
On November 26, the AACSB sent an official letter, informing UNIST that its accreditation has been approved. AACSB Accreditation is the hallmark of excellence in business education. Therefore, receiving this accreditation means that UNIST’s business programs at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels, are proven to be among the best in business education anywhere in the world.

This represents that UNIST, as the youngest South Korean institution based on establishment year, stands shoulder-to-shoulder with top-ranked business schools in the world that earned AACSB Accreditation. Established in 2007 and opened in 2009, UNIST has earned this AACSB Accreditation for all of its business programs in such a short history. This also puts UNIST as the first accredited university in the southeastern regions (Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam) up to date.

Established in 1916, AACSB International provides its members with a variety of products and services to assist them with the continuous improvement of their business programs and schools. AACSB provides internationally recognized, specialized accreditation for business and accounting programs at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral level. Synonymous with the highest standards of quality, AACSB Accreditation inspires new ways of thinking within business education globally and, as a result, has been earned by only 5 % of the business schools worldwide.
“UNIST SBA’s commitment to earning accreditation is a true reflection of their dedication—not only to their students, alumni network, and greater business community, but to the higher education industry as a whole,” said Stephanie M. Bryant, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB International. “We also assure that the addition of the UNIST School of Business Administration to the network of AACSB-accredited business schools will have a lasting positive impact for their institution, both locally and globally.”

“I would like to express our gratitude to AACSB International for the honor of earning the prestigious accreditation, which is an affirmation of our position as a leading provider of business education,” said Kooyul Jung, dean of UNIST SBA. “All credit goes to the dedicated efforts of our faculty, staff, students and alumni, as well as the ongoing support provided by UNIST President during the multiple-year process.”
He adds, “We are also extremely proud of becoming the youngest business school in South Korea that attained AACSB accreditation for all programs at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral level. We are committed to continuous excellence in both technology and management education, and will keep developing new learning and teaching practices, nurturing new international partnerships, and conducting innovative and impactful research.”
